• Mission statement

The mission of Machaon International is conservation of biodiversity by promoting protected areas, supporting sustainable development practices, disseminating relevant information, raising public awareness and enhancing international cooperation in all these areas.  

  • Main activities
  1. Preparation and implementation of concrete nature conservation projects especially focusing on promotion of protected areas at an international level;
  2. Fundraising and financial management of these projects;
  3. Organization of lectures, meetings, conferences, seminars,  exhibitions, study tours, educational and voluntary work; 
  4. Participation in planning and lobbying for the creation of new protected areas as well as wide-ranging assistance to already existing ones;
  5. Publishing and distribution of information and promotional materials,books, development and maintenance of websites
  6. Help in strategic planning, development of programmes and projects, writing of grant applications for protected areas;
  7. Own research (e.g. Q-methodology for nature conservation);
  8. Cooperation and building of partnership with local, regional, national, international institutions and experts with similar interests and objectives;
  9. Development of environmentally-friendly approaches.

Machaon International is a voluntary association of its members. Membership is based on the will of a prospective member to actively participate in Machaon's activities. It has to be requested in writing. The statute of the association is available on request.
